MOMMY OR MUMMY, which is correct to call your Mother? Have your say...

If you consider the definition of  the word mummy, then you will wonder how and why the English people came about using it informally in place of Mother. It is strange because the spelling of Mother has no 'U' but an 'O'.

Mummy is defined as the dead body of a human being or animal preserved by the ancient Egyptian or any other form of embalming that prevents a dead body from decaying. Or a dead body dried and preserved by nature. And even in movies, mummies are horrible creatures.

So, clearly, even if it is informal, it is not correct to call our Dear Mothers 'MUMMY' or 'MUM'. Instead, let us stick to the American version of mother, which is, 'MOMMY' or 'MOM'.
