Nigeria to face severe food shortage...

It seems to be only a rumor or some political pronouncements when we talk about the occurrence of food shortage in Nigeria very soon. But the truth is that if the Government fail to act swiftly and tackle the issues that can lead to it, Nigeria will be faced with a severe hunger.

Factors responsible for imminent food shortage in Nigeria includes:
The current harsh economic situation which the incumbent political administrators have plunged Nigeria, the destruction of farms and plants by locust and quelea birds in the northern part of Nigeria, the mass exodus to overseas of the labor force in southern Nigeria, the importation of foods into Nigeria (makes food expensive for average citizens) and the smuggling of food to neighboring countries.

If the government refuses to engage in an adequate pest control in the north, and encourage the youths in the south to stay back in their home country, stop the importation of food into Nigeria, and combat smugglers, Nigeria will be faced with a food calamity in the next few years.
