2 Nigerian men and two women arrested for human trafficking in Joburg

Gauteng Police have arrested two Nigerian men and two South African women for human trafficking in Randburg, north of Johannesburg.

This followed a tip-off that an 18-year-old girl was being held hostage and used as a sex worker. Police pounced on the suspects at the house where the teenager was kept. She was rescued and taken to a place of safety.

The police's Kay Makhubele says: "A South African female was sent to Durban in December where she recruited an 18-year-old girl to come to Johannesburg for a job. When she arrived, she was placed in a house where she was fed with drugs and used as a prostitute."
