Jennifer Lopez wins first People's Choice Award for Shades Of Blue


Jennifer Lopez won her first People's Choice Award on Wednesday during a live telecast on CBS from Los Angeles. 'I want to say thank you to the people. Mi gente, gracias,' Jennifer, 47, said upon accepting her award at the downtown Microsoft Theater.

The actress won the award for Favourite TV Crime Drama Actress for her work in NBC's Shades Of Blue in a category that also included Sophia Bush, Lucy Liu, Pauley Perrette and Mariska Hargitay. It was Lopez's first win after eight nominations.

The 43rd annual People's Choice Awards was being hosted by Joel McHale, 45, who stars in the CBS sitcom The Great Outdoors.
The People's Choice Awards has been broadcast annually since 1975 on CBS.

The first People's Choice Awards on March 3, 1975, recognised The Sting as Favourite Picture of 1974 with Barbra Streisand named Favourite Film Actress and John Wayne as Favourite Film Actor.

The show's ratings peaked in 1977 when 35.3 million viewers tuned in to watch Farrah Fawcett win Favourite Female TV Star and Star Wars won Favourite Picture. Kevin Hart also was named Favourite Comedic Movie Actor as the two-hour award show was underway.
