Military arrests 10 suspected baby sellers in Plateau

Commander of the Special Task Force (STF) in charge of internal security in Plateau State, Major General Rogers Nicholas, has arrested 10 suspected operators of baby factories at Bukuru Park, in Jos North Local government area of Plateau State.

The suspects include one pregnant woman, two women with infant babies ready for the sale and seven men who are brains behind the business.
Major General Nicholas who paraded the suspects yesterday at the STF Sector 2, close to University of Jos, Bauchi road campus said the suspects would be charged to court.

He noted that the suspects confessed to have been buying and selling infant babies to childless couples in Nasarawa and neighboring states.
Gen. Nicholas said the factory has been sealed off and the investigation has commenced arresting other suspects who are at large.
He said the arrest came following a tip off from one of the suspects whose baby was about to be taken to Nasarawa State for sale but resisted the act and reported their activities to the military.
A six-month-old pregnant woman who was camped in the factory said she has been in the factory for five months because she has nowhere to go since she conceived the pregnancy.
