Paramedics have responded to a mass casualty bus accident on the M1 Higginson Highway near Savannah Park in Chatsworth that has left two people dead and at least 70 injured.
KZN EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie said that initial reports from the scene indicate that four people had been critically injured.
He said that the Red Cross Air Mercy Helicopter as well as a SANDF 15 Squadron Oryx had been activated to assist with airlifting the critically injured to hospital.
RescueCare spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said that medics on the ground faced a frenetic scene and had called for ambulances from across the city to aid at the crash site.
