Woman jumps with child from 5th floor in South Africa

Johannesburg - A 45-year-old woman has committed suicide after she jumped from the fifth floor with her five-year-old child in Hillbrow on Sunday, Johannesburg Metro Police Department said.

JMPD spokesperson Edna Mamonyane said the woman held the child in her arms and jumped from their apartment balcony on the fifth floor.  

The incident happened at around 16:00 on Sunday on the corner of Claim and Leyds street.

The motive behind the suicide was still unknown.
