Mayor of Rome, Raggi says powers haven't been taken away

Rome Mayor Virginia Raggi on Monday denied speculation that she has effectively had her decisional powers taken away by the leadership of the 5-Star Movement (M5S) after her administration's personnel chief was arrested last week.

She also said she still belongs to the anti-establishment M5S, amid reports of tension with the leadership, and would consider her position if she gets notification she is under investigation. "If notification of an investigation arrives, I'll consider things," Raggi told reporters as she left home to go to city hall. "I haven't been put under receivership and I still feel part of the M5S". At the weekend Raggi agreed with M5S leader Beppe Grillo to make some changes to her administration, with Daniele Frongia stepping down as deputy mayor but staying on as city sports chief and Salvatore Romeo quitting as the head of the mayor's political secretariat.
